    Motives #2
    Series: Motives
    2 Corinthians5:14-17 and Hebrews 12:7-11

The Point: Our motives for generosity in the realm of obedience should come from an outflow of our realization that God Himself was the One who modeled generosity long before we did.

Motivations for our obedience are not just Earthly, they are eternal. Our obedience is for the Glory of God.

God disciplines us to bring about obedience.

    Motives #1
    Series: Motives

    2 Corinthians 5:14-17

The Point: As Christians, WHY we do what we do for God's glory is just as important as WHAT we do for God's glory.

    I. The love of God pushes us to re-evaluate how we view ourselves.
II. The mission of God pushes us to abandon ourselves and embrace Gospel servanthood.

A little more progression to Holiness

    I Peter 2:9-12

The Point: While understanding our place in the overall story of the Kingdom of God is necessary, it also creates for us a distinction from the other peoples of the Earth. That distinction leads us to one word: glory.
    I. To understand God's glory, we must reflect God's glory.
II. To reflect God's glory, we must accept God's calling upon us.

    A Progression to Holiness
    Exodus 37
The Point: As Christians, there comes a time when simply hearing the word doesn't cut it. God makes us His distinct people by leading us into lives of holiness.

    Psalm 121

    The Point:
Everybody looks to somebody for help in times of trouble. Who else should we look to besides the Lord?

The Psalm is cut into two parts..
    I. The first part (versus 1-4).
II. The second part (versus 5-8)

    Authentic Manhood

    Proverbs 16:1-9

    The Point:
Men don't like to be surprised. They like to know what's going on, what's around the next corner, what the next challenge will be, etc. Men can plan their entire lives with the purpose of being in control, but it's really the Lord who establishes the steps of men.

    I. God's response to man's plans.
II. Man's response to God's sovereignty.

    Between now and then
Between now and then by Rev. Jim Warren

    I Corinthians 13

The Point: How am I suppose to live between now and when the Lord comes back or my time is done here on Earth.

    I. Things I can know now:
      A. God loves us.
      B. Our prayers get answered.
      C. The Holy Spirit guides us.
II. Things I can now about then:
      A. I don't know.
      B. Things will be clear then.

    Kingdoms are for Kings
    Matthew 4:1-11

    The Point:
Kingdoms are for Kings, not slaves. For Christians to live lives of abundantly free slaves to Jesus, we must deconstruct the kingdom we've built for ourselves, and reconstruct (in our minds) the kingdom that really matters, the Kingdom of God.

    I. The lie.
    II. The truth.
